My name is Mike Weaver, and I created NextLeadr because I believe no one should have to figure leadership out alone.
Why This Matters to Me
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of leading teams, mentoring employees, and working alongside people at every stage of their professional journey.
One lesson has remained constant: Some of the most talented people I’ve ever met struggled—not because they lacked ability, but because they had never been taught how to lead.
Outstanding employees are often promoted because of their technical skills, work ethic, and results.
Then everything changes.
Success is no longer measured by what they accomplish personally. Instead, they’re responsible for helping others succeed. That’s a completely different challenge.
I’ve watched capable, hardworking people question themselves, wrestle with difficult conversations, and wonder if they were truly cut out for leadership.
Those experiences are what inspired NextLeadr.
Leadership Is a Journey, Not a Destination
I don’t believe great leaders are born. I believe they’re developed. They’re shaped by experience. They grow through challenges. They learn from mistakes. They become stronger because they’re willing to keep learning.That means leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about having the humility to keep asking better questions. It’s about serving others. It’s about building trust. It’s about helping people become more than they believed they could be.
Those are the kinds of leaders I love helping develop.
A Little About My Journey
Over the years, I’ve had opportunities to serve in leadership roles across multiple organizations and industries. I’ve experienced seasons of success.I’ve made mistakes that became valuable lessons. I’ve seen firsthand what inspires people to do their best—and what causes teams to lose trust.
I have been frustrated not getting promotions I felt I deserved. I have worked for bosses that seemingly knew less than me and were poor leaders, yet I reported to them. I have been unemployed for months at a time. I have made decisions I regretted, but always learned something. In fact, sometimes learning what NOT to do is as important as learning what TO do.
Professionally, my experience includes:
- Senior Manager of a Fortune 200 Corporation for over 20 years.
- Supervisor and Manager for over 20 years in other corporations.
- Successful in moving from contributor to team lead to supervisor to manager.
- Successful in mentoring employees to advance their own careers.
- Magna Cum Laude graduate with Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology
- Certifications in DISC Personality Profiles and Coaching
While I’m grateful for those experiences, what matters most to me isn’t the positions I’ve held.
It’s the people I’ve had the opportunity to encourage, develop, and serve.
What You Can Expect From Me
If we ever work together, here’s my promise. I won’t pretend leadership is easy. I won’t offer quick fixes or empty motivational slogans. Instead, I’ll provide honest encouragement, practical tools, thoughtful questions, and real-world guidance drawn from experience.
My goal isn’t to create leaders who look like me. My goal is to help you become the leader you were created to be. One who leads with confidence. One who earns trust. One who serves with integrity. One whose influence makes a lasting difference.
Beyond Leadership
Leadership is important, but it’s only one part of a meaningful life.
When I’m not coaching, you’ll probably find me serving in our church in the kid’s area, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, or spending time with my sweet Lab, Remmi, who still thinks he’s a lap dog.
