Leadership has been a huge part of my life, but it isn’t my whole life.
My wife and I enjoy traveling the country in our RV, discovering small towns, national parks, scenic roads, and places we’ve always wanted to see. Some of my favorite conversations—and many of my best ideas—have happened while watching a sunrise with a cup of coffee in hand.
We will be embarking on a New England trip shortly, so be on the lookout for some of those photos.

Yellowstone National Park
One of the things I love most about traveling is seeing places I’ve only read about for years. Standing here at Yellowstone reminded me how small we really are and how much there still is to learn. Leadership is the same way. The longer I lead, the more I realize that curiosity and humility matter just as much as experience.
My Sweet Buddy “Remmi”
We adopted Remmi from another couple when Remmi was about 4 years old. He is now approaching 13 years old. Like each of us, he’s getting older and more feeble. He has been our steady camping and travel companion as we tour the country. He loves his hikes and if there is a body of water nearby, he will do his best to be in it. One thing that hasn’t changed is his sweet demeanor and attitude. He is a true example of unconditional love.
Graceland
As we were traveling through Tennessee and Arkansas, on the way to Arizona, we stopped at a local campground fairly close to Memphis. We had not ever thought about visiting Elvis Presley’s home at Graceland but we decided since we were so close, we would visit. I’m glad we did. Those of us that remember Elvis, the performer, really enjoy seeing how he lived and getting a glimpse of his home life.
Grand Canyon
All I can say about the Grand Canyon is that pictures don’t do it justice. When I took my first view of the canyon, it literally took my breath away. The colors, the depth of the canyons, the wind and the cool temps are all woven together into a must-see sight.
Mt. Rushmore
As with many of you, I’ve seen photos of the carvings many times. However, you don’t realize the magnitude of the carving and the details going into the carving until you stand at the feet of the Presidents. The monument is a truly amazing tribute to these great men and the sculptors who created it.
